GIOVANNE SCHACHERE EARNS MASTER’S DEGREE IN HUMAN SERVICES WHILE LEADING COMMUNITY-BASED EXPANSION AND RAISING A FAMILY OF FIVE

Justice-focused CEO and Director celebrates graduation from Capella University and seeks to inspire fellow non-traditional students as a future commencement speaker

LOS ANGELES, CA – For Giovanne Schachere, education isn’t just personal —it’s generational. A father of five, justice-involved advocate, and the founder of a growing community-based organization, Schachere has officially earned a Master’s degree in Human Services from Capella University. His journey to this milestone has been anything but conventional, and that’s precisely why he believes it matters.

A first-generation college graduate, Schachere is the CEO and Founder of Mystis Adult and Family Services, (www.mysticares.org) a community-based organization (CBO) serving vulnerable populations across California and Washington. Named in honor of his late mother — Mystis, who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic — the organization reflects Schachere’s personal mission for healing, justice, and dignity.

From housing and reentry programs to enhanced case management (ECM), family case support (FCS), and recuperative care, Mystis has expanded operations into Monterey County, Contra Costa, and other underserved regions — bringing critical services to people and communities too often overlooked.

“I didn’t go back to school just to earn a degree — I did it to show my kids and my community that leadership should reflect the people we serve,” said Schachere.

Schachere graduated from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles in 2005, earned his B.A. in Criminal Justice from Central Washington University in 2015, and returned to higher education in recent years with a deeper sense of purpose — to sharpen his advocacy skills and lead by example as a justice-involved professional committed to systemic change.

In addition to executive leadership, Giovanne is known for launching block parties, culturally grounded events, and grassroots awards shows that celebrate resilience, creativity, and local power. His work is handson, heart-led, and centered on the idea that no one should be forgotten or left behind.

Giovanne Schachere Balancing his work with the demands of fatherhood, Schachere has raised five children while overseeing staffing, budgets, and service expansion across two states. His lived experience, academic growth, and unwavering commitment to the community position him as a rare and respected voice in the social impact space.

Now, as he celebrates this latest academic milestone, Giovanne Schachere is seeking consideration as a commencement speaker at Capella University’s September 2025 graduation in Arlington, Texas. He hopes to speak directly to nontraditional students, justiceimpacted learners, and working parents who, like him, are pursuing education while leading change in their communities.

“Commencement isn’t just a ceremony. It’s a call to remember who you are and what you overcame,” said Schachere.
