Experience the Magic of the Washington State Fair

Updated: Oct 3

There’s a reason the Washington State Fair—affectionately known as the Puyallup Fair—has been a fall tradition for over a century. Running from August 29 to September 21, 2025, it draws over a million visitors with incredible food, thrilling rides, and captivating music across 175 acres of joy-filled grounds.

Growing up, I eagerly anticipated the fair every year. Even when money was tight, the fair found a way for us to belong—distributing free tickets through my school so families like mine could attend. That’s what has always made it special to me: tradition, inclusion, and memories that endure.

Giovanne Schachere, CEO of Mysti’s Adult and Family Services, encourages the families we serve to experience joy and nostalgia—the fair remains one of those anchor experiences.

🎶 From Giant Rides to Local Vibes

This year’s Columbia Bank Concert Series lineup features huge names like:

  • Ludacris with Slick Rick (September 13)

  • Khalid (September 11)

  • Meghan Trainor, T-Pain, AJR, Darius Rucker, and more

These artists bring incredible energy, and I love seeing Washington share these big-stage moments with the world.

🔥 But Let’s Talk About Homegrown Sound

As great as national acts are, there’s a whole rhythm happening in Seattle’s streets—the 206 sound, and I think it deserves celebration alongside the mainstream.

Seattle-born, Central District-raised, and deeply tied to the city’s soul. His album 28 GRAMS (2014) shines with tracks like “Do Again,” “I Can Be Your Plug,” and “Menace Is Money.” His music reflects truth, resilience, and the heartbeat of the 206.

Another Seattle artist whose songs and presentation command attention. Raw. Real. Unapologetic.

🎶 Also available on platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, and more via his Linktree page.

At Mysti’s, we believe healing happens not just through services but through connection. The fair offers fun and memories; artists like D-Menace and MikeJack3200 provide voice, identity, and cultural reflection. Their music tells stories many of our clients live and breathe—and helps them feel seen.

Amplify Washington by Celebrating All Its Voices

I see tremendous alignment here:

  • The fair builds joy and community.

  • Local music builds cultural identity and pride.

Imagine audio clips at festival kiosks, a local artist stage, or fair playlists curated by community voices. That’s the kind of storytelling Washington can lean into, easily and beautifully.

The Importance of Community Events

Community events like the Washington State Fair are vital for fostering connections. They bring people together, creating a sense of belonging. Families can bond over shared experiences, while local artists gain exposure and recognition.

Celebrating Diversity Through Music

Music is a universal language. It transcends barriers and unites people from different backgrounds. The fair showcases a variety of musical genres, reflecting the rich tapestry of cultures in Washington.

Creating Lasting Memories

The memories made at the fair last a lifetime. From thrilling rides to delicious food, every moment is an opportunity to connect. Families can create traditions that they pass down through generations, ensuring that the spirit of the fair lives on.

Supporting Local Artists

By celebrating local artists, we uplift voices that often go unheard. Their stories resonate with many, providing a soundtrack to the lives of those in our community. Supporting local music is essential for cultural preservation and growth.

Final Thought

The Washington State Fair isn’t just an event—it’s tradition. And tradition thrives when culture is lived, shared, and uplifted.

Here’s to fair smiles, family memories, and Seattle’s sound—because that too is Washington.
