Every Washington county has its own directory on this site: housing authorities and which waitlists are open, nonprofit and senior housing, rent and eviction help, shelters, food, utilities, legal aid, veterans, youth and family programs, and crisis lines — re-checked monthly. Nobody — including Mysti's — can promise a unit, a voucher, or a check. Mysti's helps some clients through specific funded programs based on eligibility and funding, so work every door in your county at the same time. What does Mysti's actually do?

Mysti's is a case-management agency, not a funder — it doesn't hand out rent, deposits, or utility payments directly. Case managers work one-on-one with people across Washington to connect them to housing, benefits, and stability resources: Coordinated Entry, DSHS programs, community action agencies, and Mysti's own free client programs. When Mysti's can help pay for a specific cost, it is always through a program a person is enrolled in, subject to that program's eligibility rules and available funding. Question 3

Does Mysti's pay rent, deposits, or utility bills?

Sometimes — but only through a specific program a person is enrolled in, and only when that program has eligibility and funding to support it. Mysti's is not a rental-assistance fund people can call and draw from directly. Always also check your county's Coordinated Entry/Continuum of Care, DSHS, your local Community Action Agency, and any city or county rent-help program — these are the main doors for direct rent and utility help in Washington. How do I get help in an emergency tonight?

Accepted Answer

If it's a life-threatening emergency, call 911. If you or someone else is in a mental-health crisis, call or text 988 (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time. For a place to sleep tonight, dial 2-1-1 (Washington 211) or visit wa211.org to reach your county's emergency shelter line and homelessness services. Mysti's case managers can help with next steps once you're safe, but 911, 988, and 211 are the fastest paths to immediate help — Mysti's is not an emergency responder.

What is Coordinated Entry, and why does everyone send me there?

Coordinated Entry (CE) is Washington's standardized front door to homelessness services — shelter, rapid re-housing, and permanent supportive housing — within each county's Continuum of Care (CoC). Every county funded through the CoC system uses CE to screen and prioritize people, which is why housing programs, 211, and case managers all point you there first. It is not a guarantee of placement, and there is often a wait, but it's the required starting point almost everywhere in the state. How do I become a Mysti's client or make a referral?

A team member will follow up to talk through your situation — reaching out doesn't guarantee acceptance into a program or a specific timeline, since availability depends on funding and eligibility. While you wait to hear back, keep working other doors too: 211, Coordinated Entry, and DSHS.

I'm already enrolled in Foundational Community Supports (FCS) and want to switch providers — what do I do?

If you're a current FCS client and want to change providers or check on your enrollment, start by talking with your current case manager — they can walk you through the process. You can also reach Mysti's through our contact form to ask about switching. This answer is for people already enrolled in FCS, not a way to newly request services.

Yes. Mysti's offers free, self-paced online learning for anyone who creates a free client account, covering housing search, self-advocacy, budgeting, SNAP, ABD/HEN, SSI/SSDI, Apple Health, TANF, and McKinney-Vento school rights. Mysti's case management currently focuses on King, Pierce, Snohomish, Thurston, Whatcom, Skagit, Yakima, Benton/Franklin, and Grays Harbor counties.
